On Thursday, February 28, 2008, the California Public Utilities Commission held its regularly-scheduled agenda meeting. As has been the case with the last few meetings, there were relatively few telecom items on the agenda. Notably, Commissioner Simon was not present at the Commission’s meeting because he was in Sacramento appearing before the California State Senate in connection with his confirmation proceeding. A brief summary of the telecommunications-related items on the agenda is provided below.
REGULAR AND CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS
-
Kerman Telephone Co. RUS Loan Approved (Item 22, adopted on consent agenda) – This decision authorizes Kerman to borrow up to $7,677,000 from the Rural Utilities Service. The final decision is available at: http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/word_pdf/FINAL_DECISION/79591.doc.
NOTES AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS
-
Chong Report on NARUC Winter Meetings – Commissioner Chong recently returned from the winter NARUC meetings in Washington, D.C., where she sponsored resolutions: 1) addressing digital literacy; and 2) addressing terms and conditions for wireless services. The digital literacy resolution was adopted by the NARUC Board of Directors (see http://www.naruc.org/Resolutions/Digital%20Literacy.pdf), but the wireless terms and conditions resolution was tabled to the summer meetings.
