With back to back Gold Diversity Awards received from the Contra Costa County Bar Association (CCCBA), Cooper, White & Cooper attorneys are proud to announce that this year’s award was elevated to Platinum, highlighting CWC’s increased efforts in diversity in 2019.  As noted by Kristen Thall Peters at the award luncheon in February:  “[she is] proud to be a partner at a firm with so many who mentor others, judge moot court competitions and volunteer for organizations which promote diversity, among so many other activities. It is because of these individuals, as well as those actions of our firm as a whole, that we are able to shine in our efforts to improve diversity in both our firm and in our communities.”

The CCCBA Diversity Committee introduced the award in 2017, along with the development of its Diversity Award Checklist, on which the first set of awards were presented in 2018 (https://www.cccba.org/commitment-to-diversity).  It is also of note that the extensive diversity checklist was designed for law firms of all sizes to promote diversity and support the legal needs of their local communities by providing measurable tasks and ideas lawyers can utilize to increase their commitment to diversity.

In 2019, CCCBA received an ABA Partnership Award for its innovative Diversity Award Checklist at the ABA National Conference of Bar Presidents meeting. The checklist was the brainchild of the CCCBA’s Diversity Committee’s Diversity Award Subcommittee, of which CWC partner, Kristen Thall Peters, has been a member from its inception and played a large hand in the checklist’s development and evolution.
