Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy and the Mayor of San Diego, along with various other military and civic officials, participated in a ceremony on June 14th celebrating the completion of a renewable energy facility at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar owned and operated by Fortistar Methane Group.  This landfill gas-to-energy project is the result of a public-private partnership between Fortistar and the City of San Diego which owns and operates the Miramar landfill.

Kristen Thall Peters, with Cooper, White & Cooper, acted as counsel representing Fortistar on the gas purchase and lease agreements with the City, as well as real estate counsel for the financing of the project.  Kristen will give us an overview of this and other landfill gas-to-energy projects throughout California on which she has worked, as well as the advantages to bringing this type of project to your local landfill.
