Cooper’s historical eminence in media law continues today. We represent print publications, cable television operators and broadcast stations regarding newsgathering and content issues such as access to news and shield laws, obscurity and indecency laws, and licensing and syndication. It is not uncommon for our attorneys to travel to courts on an emergency basis to represent reporters facing obstacles to doing their jobs. Our media lawyers also have a command of defamation law, including such weapons as SLAPP motions to provide an effective defense should a story be questioned. We also provide prepublication and prebroadcast review of stories with a goal of allowing the story to be told, while protecting our clients from claims.
